Asheville Family Therapy

Families are living, breathing systems where every member’s well-being is interconnected. When one person struggles, the impact ripples outward, touching everyone in the home. That’s why I approach family therapy in Asheville not just as helping an individual, but as strengthening the relationships that hold the family together, creating space for healing, deeper connection, and lasting change.

In my work, younger clients are often invited to bring in parents or siblings for joint sessions. This creates space for new conversations, shared understanding, and relational repair. Sometimes we use art, creative activities, or symbolic processes to help family members express feelings that can be hard to put into words. These shared experiences can open new pathways for connection and understanding.

Healing can then occur not only within the individual, but within the family as a whole, bringing greater harmony, connection, and well-being to everyone involved.

Together, we move beyond surface conflict into deeper emotional safety, unmet needs, and relational repair. This work isn’t about blame. it’s about honesty, vulnerability, and presence.

PARENT & FAMILY therapy

Relationships are living systems. They can be beautiful, dynamic, and ever-changing. Even the strongest partnerships can get caught in cycles of disconnection, frustration, or silence. Maybe you find yourself navigating constant conflict, feeling more like roommates than partners, or longing for the closeness you once had. Couples counseling in Asheville offers a space to move beyond the surface issues and reconnect at the level that matters most: your emotional bond.

My approach is grounded in experiential, attachment-based models that place emotion and the human need for connection at the heart of healing. In our work together, we’ll look beneath the arguments and shutdowns to uncover unmet needs, create emotional safety, and begin the process of repair. This isn’t about blame - it’s about learning how to show up with honesty, vulnerability, and presence so that true intimacy can grow again.

Suppose you’ve been feeling emotionally distant from your partner, stuck in recurring conflict, or unsure how to communicate your needs. In that case, couples therapy can help you find your way back to each other.

THERAPY FOR couples

We came to Melina during a time of strain in our relationship and the challenges of becoming new parents. She supported us tremendously with her compassionate, non-judgmental presence and thoughtful, insightful feedback. Melina helped us navigate difficult moments with a balanced perspective, and we continue to feel the positive impact of our work together in our relationship today. We are deeply grateful.

Life can feel heavy at times, asking more of us than we have to give. You may find yourself overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by grief, or caught in patterns of disconnection that leave you feeling distant from yourself and others. Some days it looks like exhaustion, other days like restlessness, and sometimes it’s a quiet ache that lingers without explanation. Individual therapy offers a space to pause, breathe, and begin finding your way back to steadiness and self-trust.

Clients often come to therapy when they feel stuck, in cycles of anxiety or depression, in the fog of loss, or in the midst of a transition that has reshaped their identity. Others arrive seeking deeper clarity, relief from relational wounds, or simply a safe place to reflect and rest. Whatever brings you here, therapy can help you uncover what’s beneath the surface, release old burdens, and rediscover the strength and wisdom already within you.

My approach is gentle, attuned, and especially supportive for sensitive, creative, or neurodivergent clients who crave depth, meaning, and authentic connection. Our work together isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you remember your wholeness and expand into the next version of yourself.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

We had become more like co-parents than partners. Stress and exhaustion had taken our intimacy and joy. Therapy helped us open our hearts again, share honestly, and reconnect. Today we laugh more, feel closer as a family, and have found love and joy again in our marriage.
